European Solidarity Corps – a year with Vika Adamava

Thanks to our volunteers, we are able to carry out our photographic activities. Meet Vika, who supported us over the past year.

The European Solidarity Corps is a European Commission program that enables young people to get involved in local initiatives and participate in volunteer projects that benefit communities across Europe.

The program is aimed at youth, as well as companies, organizations, and institutions operating in the field of solidarity. Its core principles focus on solidarity-driven actions. The primary goal of the program is to provide organizations with funding opportunities for community-based projects and to foster collaboration with young people who wish to engage in volunteer work both domestically and abroad.

Sputnik Photos is one of the organizations in Poland that hosts volunteers as part of this program. In 2023, we welcomed Vika Adamava – a debuting photographer from Belarus who was forced to emigrate due to political reasons. During her stay, she supported our educational projects, helped run the Social Photography Center CHŁODNA 20 in Warsaw, edited our website and social media, and also worked on her own photographic project under the guidance of Sputnik Photos photographers. You’ll definitely hear more about her!
