Adam Durjasz "Collective Accommodation Centers"

In March 2022, Collective Accommodation Centers (the so-called Long-term Accommodation Points) for refugees from Ukraine were created in Warsaw.

Showcasing the graduates of the Sputnik Photos Mentoring Programme 2023/2024. More photos will be on display at the exhibition

in Warsaw, starting 26 April, 2025.

To a large extent, the abandoned office buildings were adopted to fulfill the role: suspended coffered ceilings, glass, and fitted lining all around. Lots of space for people to spend their time in.

For some, they served as transit points. Others stayed longer. Longer and longer each time: the date of liquidation was postponed every few months. One could have thought that although it was always getting closer and closer, it might never come as well.

But it did come. Today, nobody lives in the buildings where these photographs were taken. A lot has happened up to this point. The project Collective Accommodation Centers is an attempt to preserve some fragments of that time.
