Following i.a. Fromm, I examine the social changes in the system of values, the mechanisms of the ‘flight from freedom,’ and the evolutionary visions of creating a new, alternative society. I pose questions about freedom and subjugation, the revolution in the sense of security, the potential of counterculture, and the authenticity of social activism, including the processes of forming groups, building social movements, as well as reimagining communities.

The project Freedom From is also a visual reflection on the idea of the holistic vision of a group of individuals living on an old Irish farm and putting it into practice. With a desire to create an ‘anarchic’ artistic ‘community,’ they have embarked on a slow journey towards the future they have boldly envisioned. They are planning to create a new system, exceeding the budget constraints. They are trying to define the reality of a revolutionary and/or utopian wonderland.

As an observer, I do not give any answers but rather tell the story with no agitation. My reality and imagination meet on the spot, and the images of harmony, longing for the ideal of a beautiful new order, hope for a New Planet Earth, myths and legends at times coincide with moments of chaos, hardship, or pure helplessness.

It is a journey during which I collide with my own fears and doubts, delving into the subconscious. This experience leads to my personal transformation. I rediscover long-forgotten dreams and fantasies but also fears and insecurities.

The project is to provoke a better understanding of the challenges the present exposes us to, but also to open our awareness to the gravity of both the genre and the scenarios of ongoing and impending changes, broaden our perceptions and images of the future and, above all, to get through and reach emotions that are well hidden under the armor.
